DOCS TRADING CENTRE - ROUND 4

THE DOCS TRADING CENTRE – ROUND 4

This is new to the Super Coach Doctor. We are ditching who we think is playing well and not well. What Super Coach is all about now is trading. Everyone wants to know who to trade in and out of their sides. So hopefully this will help people each week. We will set it up in a format by positions and then if required we will cover any other issues.

BACKS

BUY

Jarryn Geary (Price $333,600, Average 94, Break Even -9)

Possibly the break out player of the year. We have him as a buy because he is still going to go up in price by a big amount. He is going to average 90+ this year he will not be any cheaper  than this.

Paul Duffield ($431,400, 94, -32)

We pumped him up in the pre season and he has produced under Lyon and is back to his best. With a -32 break even his price is still going to go up a lot so now is the time to get him in if you can.

Corey Enright ($478,000, 84, +98)

He had a slow start to the year after an interrupted pre season  back with a 120 last week and this price probably wont get much lower . So if you want a tried and true Super Coach star he is a bargain at this price.

WATCH

Sam Fisher ($521,500, 94, +131)

A Super Coach star and is having a good season. Had a poor game last week and with a break even of 131 his price may drop further. If he has another average game his price will drop and could get under 500k. If so buy, buy, buy.

Chris Newman ($479,300, 84, +127)

Had a solid 98 at the weekend but is a proven performer. With such a high break even he is certain to drop in price a bit more. May even drop to around 460k area. Keep an eye on him he could be a bargain.

RUCKS

BUY

Paddy Ryder ($531,300, 121, +104)

Having a breakout season and at that average and that price he is a bargain. Can he keep it up is the big question. With doubts over Sandilands, Cox and Mumford he could be the highest scoring ruckman this year.

Jonathan Giles ($281,300, 94, -15)

Still going up in price so isn’t going to get any cheaper. A fantastic average and he could be a keeper. If he keeps a 90+ average up he is a bargain at this price.

WATCH

Dean Cox ($578,000, 99, +157)

With a huge break even he is going to drop in price. He may not be his old self points wise but he is still averaging 100+ and if he can drop more in value he could become a bargain.

MIDFIELD

BUY

Brent Stanton ($591,200, 142, +108)

Having a huge year with the second best average in the comp behind money bags Ablett. I doubt he will be much cheaper than this so all aboard the Stanton train.

Jack Ziebell ($428,500, 115, +32)

Backed up a huge first game with a solid 98. He is playing his 3rd game this week so his price will rise after this week. He will never be cheaper than this for his whole career so if you want him now is the time.

Callan Ward ($538,700, 121, +67)

A huge 133 last week, hasn’t been under 100 all year. His price is still going up and he looks to be a bona fide premium. He is still great value at this price get him if you can.

WATCH

Matt Priddis ($595,800, 108, +160)

Having a great season but with such a high break even his price will drop over the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye on him and you may be able to snaffle him up at a great price.

Scott Pendlebury ($632,700, 122, +191)

Having a great year points wise as we expected. But his break even is 191 so his price is going to drop. If he gets into the low 600k area he would be the bargain of the year so watch closely.

FORWARDS

BUY

Luke Dahlhaus ($425,500, 109, +24)

Still going up in price but an average of 109 is great. Forwards like this can be hard to find his price is still rising so if you want him as maybe a swap for Hurley he is a ripper.

Kurt Tippett ($474,600, 122, +37)

Ok it may be time for this Doc to eat some humble pie. Has he finally delivered after teasing for so long. I made fun of him in the pre season but who is looking silly now. Still a bargain at this price and if he keeps these scores up he is a must have.

WATCH

Matthew Pavlich  ($498,100, 86, +125)

Is still a star but has a huge price drop. Watch his form as his price falls. If he can turn his form around he could be a bargain.

Brent Harvey ($528,900, 95, +172)

He is inconsistent especially when tagged but he will give you 95-100 points as an average. He is going down in value and could be a bargain if he gets under 500k.

THE BIG TRADING QUESTIONS

With Andrew Carrazzo out for at least 10-12 weeks he needs to be replaced. As he is a duel position player you have options. Here a few for each position is a straight swap scenario.

THE FORWARDS - ROUND 3 WRAP

THE FORWARDS - ROUND 3 WRAP

DOCS DELIGHTS
Nick Riewoldt ($495,100, Average 113)
The man who was once nude is now back to his better ways. While not dominating games anymore he is still turning out great super coach scores. Get him while cheap.
Brendan Whitecross ($419,400, 110)
There is always someone that bobs up that not many think of, this may be that man. Very consistent thus far and still cheap. Watch closely for an upgrade target.
Luke Dahlhaus ($386,100, 95)
A bit left field here. While not getting massive scores still a nice average in a team that is not going well. Cheap and one to keep an eye on.

DOCS DUDS
Matthew Pavlich ($531,600, 85)
What is going on? A perennial super coach star has Lyons game plan hurt the big Pav.  Still highly priced a lot have him and will be hoping he can turn it around.
Steve Johnson ($505,400, 61)
Has been copping some close attention this year and not liking it. Just as likely to get a 150 this week though and change it all around.

THE MIDFIELDERS - ROUND 3 WRAP

THE MIDS - ROUND 3 WRAP

DOCS DELIGHTS
Gary Ablett (Price $708,000 Average 155)
Yes he is expensive but a 155 average is extraordinary. If you have him in your side make him captain every week. He is a freak, if you don’t have him, get him.
Trent Cotchin ($554,500, 118)
We have been waiting for the breakout season and it seems to have arrived. A team that has only won one game and this average is a super effort.
Lenny Hayes ($453,300, 110)
There was some doubt on how he would come back after a knee reco and he has come back as his old self. Still a bargain at that price he could be your first upgrade target.

DOCS DUDS
Dane Swan ($615,800, 100)
A good average by most peoples standard but not for the tattooed one. For those who forked out the big coin for him they will be disappointed with his output so far.
Michael Rishetelli ($478,600, 75)
He is way better than a 75 average. Has been real poor so far and should be better. If he can improve though he could be a bargain buy.
Travis Boak ($451,700, 71)
For a supposed gun this average is not good. He should be a 100 point player and its not as if Port aren’t doing ok. He needs to lift.

The Backs - Round 4

The Backs – Round 4

DOCS DELIGHTS

Brendan Goddard (Price $588,100, Average 121.7)
After a below average year last year (for him) he is back to his best and is the best defender available. If you don’t have him get him, he is costly but will reward you.

Alex Rance ($478,400, 109.3)
Has been consistent this year breaking the 100 barrier in every game. But can he keep it up? It looks as if he can and he is at a nice juicy price to. Get on him before it gets higher.

Michael Hibberd ($424,100, 99.3)
Some nice consistant scores  and with Dempsey out for a few weeks he should continue this trend. Still nice and cheap and near that magical 100 average.

DOCS DUDS

Rhys Shaw ($415,400, 50.5)
He missed round 1 but the Swans are flying and he has spudded it up so far. I pumped him up pre season and he has delivered little. Lift Rhys.

Graham Johncock ($413,900, 56.0)
The Stiff is a genuine premium defender over the years. That average is very poor. Maybe the new coach is using him differently. If you have him seriously look at moving him on.

Docs Best Buys Round 2

DOCS BEST BUYS – ROUND 2

With round 3 coming around those new to Super Coach need to know that this is the round when the game changes. After this week prices will rise and fall. While everyone is getting into the swing of trading what you need to be focussing on this week is fixing your team. Don’t worry about sideways trading and getting rid of players who had one bad game or looking at players who had a couple of good ones. You can’t waste your trades you will need them so use them wisely.

So why fix up you team this week? I would assume that there are holes in most teams. You someone who is having a shocker. Now is the time to dump them and get in the rookies who are doing well before their prices rise. This is a great money making exercise and it also gets rid of the dead wood clogging up your team. So if you have a dud now is the time to fix your team. If on the other hand your rookies are all playing and doing well then great, bask in the glory of being happy with your team and not having a burn any trades.

What I am putting below is a list of the best players in each position that are cheap and going to give you the best price increase. These are the players you need to have in your team to make you money so you can cash in and upgrade them to better players as the season goes on. There are a few technical terms I need to clarify first so you know what I am talking about.

BE = Break even – this is the score a player needs to maintain his current price. The lower the better. If its in the negative even better.

NR = Next round – this is the estimated price increase this player will have after the next round.

3RDS = 3 rounds – this is the predicted price increase of the player in 3 rounds time.

As an example

James Magner Current Price $94,700

BE – 135 - a negative break even is great so no matter what his price will rise

NR - $100k - after the next round his estimated price will be 94600 + 100000 = $194,600

3RDS  - $227k - after round 5 his estimated value will be 94600 + 227000 = $321,600

BACKS

Tom Bugg ($113,200)  BE -76 / NR  $65k / 3RDS  $142k

Jarryn Geary ($213,000)  BE -54 / NR $64k / 3RDS $148k

Paul Bower ($157,200) BE -60 / NR $60k / 3RDS $142k

Tim Mohr ($124,700) BE -59 / NR $56k / 3RDS $121k

MIDFIELDERS

James Magner ($94,700) BE -135 / NR $100k / 3RDS $227k

Toby Greene ($146,600) BE -77 / NR $70k / 3RDS $159k

Clay Smith ($116,600) BE -58 / NR $64k / 3RDS $109k

Dylan Shiel ($113,200) BE -28 / NR $33k / 3RDS 82k

RUCKS

Jonathan Giles ($126,700) BE -111 / NR $90k / 3RDS $206k

Jarrad Reddan ($113,200) BE -63 / NR $57k / 3RDS $127k

FORWARDS

Adam Kennedy fwd/mid ($113,200) BE -102 / NR $82k / 3RDS $182k

Terry Milera ($124,700) BE -95 / NR $79k / 3RDS $181k

Rhys Stanley ($176,200) BE -74 / NR $72k / 3RDS $166k

Jeremy Cameron ($113,200) BE -29 / NR $34k / 3RDS $81k

These are the players you should be seriously looking at to get into your side if there are any spots to fix up before the prices start to change. As you should be able to see if you do not do it this week the price changes of these players will mean you probably wont be getting them in after this week. But if you do get any of them in you can see that there will be immediate price benefits.

TRADING - A GUIDE

TRADING  - A GUIDE

With a lot of talk about trading already I thought I would put up a guide to trading for people to use. I hope this helps.

* Do not trade out premium players after a couple of bad games. There are exceptions to the rule, however in general your guns should be locked into your team. If your gun loses value who cares, you picked him for the season to score you points and not as a cash cow. Only trade premiums if they are on the long term injury list.

* Do not
trade sideways. Be it Rookies or Premiums or especially mid priced, trading sideways is usually pointless. A 'better' rookie traded in for your 'average' rookie is pointless. If you strongly believe your rookie won't get another game for the season then make the trade
, otherwise be happy with what you have. Trading for players of simular standing just because one of them had a bad game or two is pointless as there is just as much chance the guy you trade in will do the same when you put him in your team.

* Do not waste trades, 24 trades will disappear fast. Injuries, suspensions, etc are all part of the game. Use your trades wisely and carefully you don’t get them back once they are used.

* Do not jump on a player because of one or two good games or jump off a player because of one or two bad games (hello Brian Lake and Kurt Tippett). Research their past performances and consider the teams they have just played, etc.

* UPGRADING - The money from the cash cows can be used to upgrade players. As a rule of thumb only upgrade players if you are set to earn more than 10 points a week extra. Any less and you’re wasting a trade.

So now how many trades should I keep in the bank throughout the season?

If you are lucky and have a good team 0 trades should be used in the first 3 rounds. This gives you 24 trades to use in 21 rounds.

If you can help it try and use minimal trades in the first half of the season, if you have 15 trades left with 10 rounds to go you have a massive upper hand.

The reason to keep so many trades is because by the time Round 10 comes by you have a more accurate form guide to use.

How many times have you traded in a player who dominated the first few rounds only to see them sink away into nothingness.

Trading is the key to Super Coach, but you only have 24 and they must be treated like gold. Only use them when you are sure of your trade and in my opinion the majority of your trades should be used for upgrading players. That is using the players who have made you money to bring in better players. Here is how it works in an example I did earlier in the year.

Lets use Western Bulldogs youngster Clay Smith as an example.
Step 1

Starting price - $116,600

Lets say after 7 games he has played well and his price has gone up to $350,000

Step 2

Is to sell him. So lets say we can get Darren Pfeiffer from Port into our team for $126,700. So we sell Smith and therefore have $223,300 as a profit and Pfeiffer in our team.

Step 3

Is to select another player to remove. Lets say you have another rookie Chad Wingard from Port who has done well early in the season and now has a price of $295,000. So you sell Wingard and that now gives you $518,300 in your kitty. Most players will have a little cash floating around maybe 30k so that could give you $548,300 to spend.

Step 4

Based on starting prices you could pick up a player such as Trent Cotchin or Brent Stanton. As players prices go up and down you may be able to pick up someone whose price may have dropped for whatever reason and get yourself a gun.

So the end result of this exercise would be.

IN – Brent Stanton and Darren Pfeiffer

OUT – Clay Smith and Chad Wingard

So effectively Stanton replaces Smith in your side. If Smith was averaging say 70 points and Stanton was averaging 105 you have got yourself 35 more points a week. Upgrade to this standard 7 times during the year and you can get an extra 245 points a week (approximately). This is the difference between being average and smashing your mates. So that’s how to upgrade and for me it is THE KEY in Super Coach and the best way to get a great team. Forget the sideways trades und upgrade.

ROUND 1 WRAP

ROUND 1 WRAP

THE BACKS

Docs Delights

Alex Rance – 108 points

For a dour backman that is a great start. Watch him as a potential upgrade target.

Jed Adcock – 140 points

Huge score great if you have him, might be getting pricey if he keeps this up.

Scott Thompson (Nth)-  111 points

Has always had the ability to go high but can he keep it up.

Docs Duds

Graham Johncock  - 57 points

Shocker from the stiff.

Brian Lake - 31 points

Many have him but for how long???

Greg Broughton - 57 points

Played as a tagger hopefully not every week.

THE MIDS

Docs Delights

Scott Pendlebury – 167 points

Worth every cent and even more if he was your skip.

James Magner – 102 points

If you don’t have him get him.

Brent Stanton - 180 points

Biggest score of the week, but can he back it up and handle a tag.

Docs Duds

Brent Moloney – 58 points

Not the only Demon shocker but he is better than that.

Daniel Kerr – 31 points

Can’t handle a tag.

THE RUCKS

Docs Delights

Matthew Kreuzer – 125 points

The big fella is back after his knee.

Paddy Ryder – 165 points

Huge score but consistency is his problem can he back it up.

Docs Duds

Orren Stephenson – 16 points

Was given a football lesson by Sandilands.

Todd Goldstein – 74 points

Will McIntosh being back reduce his scores? Very overpriced.

THE FORWARDS

Docs Delights

Lance Franklin – 142 points

Wasn’t even a great game but justified his price tag.

Kurt Tippett – 150 points

Big score but he is likely to have a shocker next week.

Docs Duds

Steve Johnson – 58 points

Was to busy trying to milk frees, get the ball Stevie, will probably get 150 next week.

Mitch Clark – 49 points

Not good enough for a bloke on that much coin.
