THE ULTIMATE 2012 SUPER COACH PLAYER GUIDE

This is the ultimate Super Coach player guide for the 2012 season. It has been difficult to decide how to format this so I hope this is ok for everyone. I think that it covers pretty much everything over all positions and player types. If you have a place to fill in your side this guide should be a good place to find that player. It is in the format of a Top 5 similar to what we in one of our videos. As this covers so many categories you are sure to find what you are looking for. So here goes we will kick it off with the defenders.

TOP 5 PREMIUM DEFENDERS

1 – Brett Deledio , Rich $568,700 – A move into the midfield is sure to make this guy the best defender this year.

2 – Heath Scotland, Carlt $572,900 – Another who plays midfield and avoids the tag had a huge year last year and should produce again.

3 – Brendan Goddard, Stk $584,700 – Not the best defender anymore so a little pricey but will still give you 100+ points week in week out.

4 – Heath Shaw, Coll $546,700 – The Pies get the ball in this guys hand has good efficiency and runs all day sure to gets lots of the footy.

5 – Greg Broughton, Freo $502,100 – A bit of a smokey but I think he will move to the midfield and therefore become a big point scorer.

TOP 5 MID PRICED DEFENDER ($450K-$250K)

1 – Shannon Hurn, WCE $446,000 – A booming and accurate kick he gets the ball a lot and appears to be fitter this year.

2 – Andrew Mackie, Geel $437,400 - I have been on this guy all pre season and watched every game he played he gets it a lot and even sneaks forward.

3 – Rhys Shaw, Syd $415,400 – Another running defender who gets it a lot (can you see a theme) uses it well and is an improver.

4 – Nick Malceski, Syd $367,000 – Has been a 100 point defender before, looks to be over his dodgy knee injuries and is very well priced.

5 – Paul Duffield, Freo $410,200 – Has been a 90+ defender before and had injury issues with a new coach he appears to be thriving and is cheap as.

TOP 5 CHEAP DEFENDERS (less than $250k)

1 – Brandon Ellis, Rich $126,000 – A fantastic kick and good size for a kid, has some hardness about him to, will play a lot.

2 – Cameron Guthrie, Geel $184,300 – A second year player so a bit pricier but will play a lot and get the footy a bit, uses it well.

3 – Christian Howard, Dogs $239,400 – Had injury issues but now over them, is a great kick and will play a lot get on even at that price.

4 – Tim Mohr, GWS $124,700 – Wont be a huge point scorer but don’t let that put you off. Will be a good foot soldier for your team as he hold down a key defensive post.

5 – Steven Morris, Rich $113,200 – An older player at 23 who is hard as nails will play a lot due to this.

TOP 5 PREMIUM MIDFEILDERS

1 – Scott Pendlebury, Coll $700,500 – Yes he is expensive but he will give you  120+ per week.

2 – Gary Ablett, GC $689,000 – I still haven’t forgiven him for leaving Geelong but he is still a Super Coach star.

3 – Dane Swan, Coll $661,100 – Is he under priced? Super player, super value get on it.

4 – Matthew Boyd, Dogs $626,100 – My smokey, dogs to play a high possession game and he will benefit.

5 – Mark Murphy, Carlt $639,900 – Still in the shadows of Judd buts scores better, he is a gun.

TOP 5 MIDPRICED MIDFIELDERS ($450K-$250K)

1 – Luke Parker, Syd $282,400 – Have been impressed with his pre season form, wins his own ball and uses it well, breakout year imminent. Jump on.

2 – Jack Ziebell, NM $428,500 – This his year to deliver, has teased a bit but expect a 100 point year from him.

3 – Kane Cornes, Port $405,600 – Bit of a roughie, I hope Primus plays him, has starred in the pre season and has averaged 100+ before.

4 – Brad Ebert, Port $344,400 – Nice price and is sure to play perma midfield. Kicking can be iffy but at that price is great value.

5 – Tendai Mzungu, Freo $441,000 – Averaged 82 in his debut season on limited preparation due to injury. A full pre season a 90+ season beckons.

TOP 5 CHEAP MIDFIELDERS (LESS THAN $250K)

1 – James Magner , Melb $94,700 - Not only is he cheap as he averaged the most disposals in the VFL last year. He will play and you are a fool not to have him in your side.

2 – Kane Lucas, Carlt $223,900 – A third year player he has excelled this pre season at this price he is a bargain. Get on.

3 – Devon Smith, GWS $131,600 – Has a mature body for a kid and is hard at it. Wins his own ball and uses it well.

4 – Stephen Clifton, GWS $130,700 – Form VFL Liston Medalist and triple VFL premiership player. Will play a lot in a young midfield, strongly consider.

5 – Josh Caddy, GC $218,200 – A little pricey but can really play and in his second year should be ready to go after a full pre season.

TOP 5 PREMIUM RUCKS

1 – Shane Mumford, Syd $610,300 – The big fella is a machine at ground level coupled with his bullocking ruckwork will make him the best ruckman this year.

2 – Dean Cox, WCE, $662,600 – The only negative for Cox this year is Naitanui, he will spend less time in the ruck therefore possibly will socre a little lower, but still a gun.

3 – Aaron Sandilands, Freo $600,500 – Injury worries are dogging the giant, if he can get fit he is still a gun, but his load may be reduced to keep him on the park.

4 – Matthew Leuenberger, Bris $554,200 – The new Dean Cox, this could be the year he breaks out if he does make sure you are on board.

5 – Sam Jacobs, Adel $502,700 – Good value for a bloke who will be the number one man at Adelaide where he will ruck most of the time which equals more points.

TOP 5 VALUE RUCKS

1 – Orren Stephenson, Geel $106,600 – There are only 2 fit ruckman at Geelong so he will play. Has improved over pre season a must have.

2 – Ivan Maric, Rich $338,300 – Will spend a lot of time in the ruck is Mumford like in the way he plays. A bargain at this price.

3 –Jonothan Giles, GWS $126,700 – Will be the new sides number 1 ruckman and at this price you cant ignore him. Has had good pre season form.

4 – Jarrad Reddan, Port $113,200 – Has burst onto the scene and will be Ports number 1 another ruck bargain to be had.

5 – James Seller, Melb $229,900 – Will play more as a back than a ruck but is not a bad option for something different and a duel position to boot.

** NOTE due to the number of ruckman we only used 2 catagories.

TOP 5 PREMIUM FORWARDS

1 – Lance Franklin, Haw $600,600 – It Buddy do I need to say anymore can post some massive scores will be a star of any team.

2 – Nathan Fyfe, Freo $585,700 – He will be a midfielder this year hence his high ranking, averaged 108 last year and cant see him being any lower .

3 – Adam Goodes, Syd $586,500 – This bloke is a machine, he is consistant and just gives you the goods year in year out, a must.

4 – Paul Chapman, Geel $548,600 – Not much talk about Chappy but I can tell you he is fit and he has a record of a durable player. Could be a bargain. Averaged 101 last year and that was a bad year.

5 – Steve Johnson, Geel $581,700 – Can be inconsistent but can post huge scores, put him in just for the joy of watching him be a freak.

1 – Patrick Dangerfield, Adel $435,400 – Has teased in the past but not anymore, now a midfielder he is a gun get him in your side.

3 – Jack Riewoldt, Rich $441,600 – I don’t normally like key forwards but at this price you need to consider. Averaged 92 in 2010 so if he gets there he is  bargain.

4 – Brad Green, Melb $422,600 - Bit of a smokey here, but his last 5 years have been 78/97/86/99/94 so without the burden of the captaincy he can return to a 90+ average.

5 – Allen Christensen, Geel $356,800 - Bit of a big call here but at this price he could be good value as he gets more midfield time.

TOP 5 CHEAP FORWARDS (less than $250k)

1 – Tory Dickson, Dogs $106,600 – A mobile forward who is 24 from the VFL, will play and should reward you with good scores.

2 – Darren Pfeiffer, Port $126,000 – Has been elevated so will play, is duel positioned and on his last AFL chance at his 3rd club, will earn you cash.

3 – Adam Kennedy, GWS $113,200 – Has had a great pre season, is duel positioned. He has been at GWS a year so could play more than the other kids.

4 – Aamed Saad, StK $124,000 – He kicked 49 goals in the VFL last year as a small forward and was the best young player in the VFL. Get on.

5 – Aaron Hall, GC $106,600 – Burst on to the scene in the NAB Cup and looked good, if he plays get him in your side.

1 – Jonathan Giles

2 – Stephen Clifton

3 – Devon Smith

4 – Adam Kennedy

1 – Dustin Martin, Rich $536,200 – The breakout player of the year still expensive but will become a star of the comp as the Tiges rise.

2 –Patrick Dangerfield, Adel $435,400 – Already mentioned him but as with Martin by the end of the year this guy will be a star.

3 – Trent Cotchin, Rich $545,300 – Looks to have finally got his body in tip top shape and is ready to explode.

4 – Luke Parker, Syd $282,400 – I have big wraps on this guy reminds me of Jobe Watson he will just keep getting better.

5 – Kane Lucas, Carlt $223,900 – Will slip under the radar of Judd, Murphy and Gibbs to be a big cog in the Blues midfield.

TOP 5 RIP OFFS

1 – Dayne Beams, Coll $546,400 – Hardly sited this pre season and at this price is way to much for  a player like Beams.

2 – Daniel Merret, Bris $466,700 – He is a stopping defender who would rather fist a ball than kick it. A good player but not for your super coach side.

3 – Jonathan Griffin, Freo $492,800 – 3rd ruckman at Freo behind Sandilands and Clarke at nearly half a mill you can do better.

4 – Tom Scully, GWS $423,800 – Has had a poor pre season, has a dodgy knee and will be under huge pressure. Avoid. But if you need some coin hit him up for a loan.

5 – Justin Westhoff, Port $443,400 – Not sure about this bloke and how he gets a game, but he is priced higher than Jack Riewoldt nuff said.

TOP 5 COMEBACK PLAYERS

1 – Lenny Hayes, Stk $422,000 – The guy is a star and appears to have not missed a beat in pre season at this price is a bargain.

2 – Jason Porplyzia, Adel $229,600 – Has had some very dodgy shoulders and we hope he stays fit, his form has been great and he is super cheap.

3 – Brian Lake, Dogs $286,900 – Before last year he averaged 105/93/92/101 each year, if he gets near that you must have him.

4 – Ryan Hargrave, Dogs $280,200 – Only 5 games last year and with the Dogs high possession game he will get a lot of it. Good price to. Averaged 97 in 22009.

5 – Courtney Dempsey, Ess $273,800 – A horrid knee injury but is at a reduced price and has been super impressive in the pre season, watch closely.
